Roofing Jobs – Advertising for the Job

Just as in any business, it takes advertising to let potential customers know you are available to meet their needs. Listings in the local directories and phone books are just the first small step. Traditional advertising venues still work well for roofing jobs that involve replacement or repair but there are other ways to increase your chances of being known to those who could offer you work.

There is nothing quite as effective as being able to meet potential customers face to face. Local building shows held by home improvement suppliers are a great venue for this. They generally put these types of events on for their own advertising reasons but it is still an excellent way to introduce yourself to their attendees. When using such an event put forth as professional appearance as possible. Be polite and informative. Open discussion with possible clients about their problems and needs will help show you as a caring and informed professional. Even if you do not get immediate work from some of your contacts, having helped them at the show, they are more likely to remember you favorably when they are ready to buy.

The same is true for industry trade shows. Here you are more likely to meet with contractors and builders who are seeking a new subcontractor for their roofing work. Again, a well-informed, professional bearing will help you with the extra edge needed for picking up more roofing jobs.

Word of mouth advertising is extremely important in the roofing industry. With the cultural bias about scam artists posing as roofers so prevalent, making sure your business is well known and reputable will help you be the one people talk about as trustworthy. Membership in community service clubs and organizations also help build your business reputation. When volunteering for philanthropic activities in your community, people will become more favorably disposed to the people who give that extra bit and are more likely to remember them when they need a roofing job done.
