Plumbing Tips From an Alpharetta Plumber

As many Alpharetta plumbers like myself will tell you, the time to start thinking about your plumbing is always right now. Do not wait until you have a problem to start paying attention to your home's plumbing because by then chances are it is too late. The vast majority of plumbing problems that are found in homes today are completely preventable. Yes that means that if you take a few precautions and learn a little bit about how your home's plumbing works then you can avoid the need to ever call a plumber! Of course for most home-owners there will come a time when the services of a licensed master plumber will be needed but if you can avoid spending your hard earned money on something preventable why not do it? There are a few things that you can do today to help make sure that you don't ever need to call a plumber in Alpharetta or anywhere else for that matter. If you are unfamiliar with Alpharetta, it is a suburb of Atlanta, GA. Many Atlanta plumbing companies service the Alpharetta area as well and it is one of the nicest cities in all of Georgia. OK let's get to the plumbing tips.

Tip #1:  Use drain screens on all drains. One of the most common problem that plumbers see in homes are clogged drains. Why do these drains become clogged? Primarily because they do not have drain screens and this allows debris to flow unmolested into the drain. Over time this will cause the drain to clog and when this happens most people turn to a plumber to solve the problem.  Making sure every drain in your home has a screen can help you to avoid this situation.

Tip #2: Learn to use a plunger properly. This is key. Far too often home-owners don't want to get themselves dirty so the don't actually plunge toilets properly. Once a plumber comes out they can all too often take that same plunger and unclog the toilet. Save yourself some money and learn the right way to use a plunger. Make sure there is a good air-tight seal around the basin of the toilet and then plunge vigorously without breaking the seal. This will do the trick 9 out of 10 times.

These simple tips will help you avoid calling your local plumber. Whether you are avoiding calling an Alpharetta plumber or a plumber anywhere your wallet will thank you.
