The washer dryer combo is fast becoming a popular machine in the kitchen. It is ideally suited to smaller spaces and takes up a lot less room than that taken up by separate washer and dryer machines. With a combination machine you wash and dry your clothes within the same single appliance.
It is basically a single machine that does the same job as two. This can save loads of time and effort as all you have to do is drop your dirty clothes into the machine, turn the switch and take clean and dry clothes out a short amount of time later.
These types of appliance are very popular in Europe and the Far East where people tend to live in much smaller spaces and, therefore, space is much more of a premium. These appliances were designed to fit into these small spaces perfectly.
Some washer dryer machines are also portable which gives more choice as to their placement within the kitchen or laundry. It was, at first, thought that a washer dryer combo was more fragile than a separate machine but this has been found to be unsubstantiated.
There are a few disadvantages to the combination machines. They are often a little more expensive than the separate appliances. They are often of the non vented type when it comes to drying and so the tray which collects the water from the condensation process will need to be emptied on a regular basis. The drying part of the cycle tends to take longer to complete than with a separate dryer unit. This will often mean a slight reduction in efficiency and therefore slightly more expensive to run.
The standard washer and dryer combo machines come in two sizes, twenty four or twenty seven inches wide. The particular measurements can mean they can take from eleven to twenty two pounds of clothes.
Setting up a combination appliance is usually a straight forward process that requires access to a faucet for its water supply and drainage. Most machines are ventless and so do not need access to an external wall ventilation point. If you do have means of ventilation, however, then it is still possible to find a vented model.
Although combo appliances have a few disadvantages over their separate counterparts, the advantage of being able to slot into a small place often far outweighs them. This is making them a really popular choice and a great alternative.
