What’s the one thing nobody wants to see growing inside the house? Mold, that’s what. Outside, they can be a slight evil, an ugly sight, but once they get inside the house, things get personal. Molds can cause sicknesses from the common cold to pneumonia. There’s even the extra dangerous mold – Strachybotrys atra, more commonly known as the black mold, which is toxic and deadly. Characterized by its greenish-black color, this is one mold that you had better get rid once you see it. So how do we go about getting rid of these molds stuck on our walls, ceilings and floors?
There are many methods of mold removal. But first, you must prepare yourself to attack your enemy. Pinpoint the origin of your fungi, and then after that, we have to take the steps to remove it. Since the mold can be dangerous to your health if you come in direct contact to it, rubber gloves and a respiratory mask is a must. Once you’ve fully prepared yourself, you can use the following products to try and remove the mold.
The most common product that can help eliminate the mold is bleach. To also reduce the moisture in the contaminated area, you can use a dehumidifier. Getting rid of the moisture around your place will also help take out the molds, since these fungi thrive on moisture to grow. Once you remove their life source, the molds won’t be coming back again.
However, if you find these products insufficient in removing the mold in your house, then perhaps you should consider calling a certified mold removal contractor. They are professionals who know how to get rid of the mold in your house.
The first thing a professional should check in your house is the amount of mold around your house. This is called mold spore testing. A physical examination will allow the contractors to analyze exactly what type of mold you have growing in your house and how to eliminate it. There are some instances that the mold growing may not be actually hazardous to your health. A mold testing will help determine which molds have to removed, since mold cannot ever be 100% eradicated in a house. Molds are airborne and present in any house—it is simply the level of molds that can pose a problem to people.
