Your Choices When Picking A Kitchen Sink
When picking a kitchen sink size and shape will be the two main things that should be considered. If you are looking for a less expensive sink then remember that they may be more shallow than the standard size. A cheaper sink will usualy be only 7 inches deep where 8 to ten inches is better if you are washing bigger items like soup pots or roasting pans.
The usual kitchen sink choices are the single basin sink which is usualy a large rectangular shape. The double basin sink with both sinks being the same size for washing and rinsing dishes. There are also smaller corner sinks which are handy for a kitchen with not much room. Choosing your kitchen sink will depend on the size that you need and all the things it will be used for.
Once that is decided the next choice will be in what material that you want to use. There are sinks made of stainless steel, which is bright, shiny and very popular. These sinks which became popular and remained that way have been around since the 1950's. You can also pick a cast iron sink covered with enamel.
These sinks can come in many colors and the enamel covering makes them very easy to clean.
The cast iron makes them very heavy so you will need a good heavy counter top to hold them.
You will also need to be aware that the enamel can chip and expose the cast iron under the enamel.
Consider also the walls of your sink, straight walls can be better used for soaking and stacking of large items. having the drains off center will leave you more of a flat surface for stacking dishes.
You might want to think about granite sinks which are both attractive and durable. Granite kitchen sinks is also easy to clean.
