Choosing Kitchen Cabinets

A beautiful new set of spacious Kitchen Cabinets can make the world of difference when renovating your kitchen.   With unlimited funds, most of us would opt for a handmade set of Custom Cabinets. Unfortunately, this dream cannot be a reality for most of us.  So what options do we have  Apart from the aforementioned Custom cabinets, someone looking to renovate their kitchen has the choice of Prebuilt Kitchen cabinets and Ready to assemble cabinets.

As mentioned, custom cabinetry is only an option for the very well off.  If that describes you, however, they are a truly versatile choice.  Being made to order, you have your choice of materials and finish.  If your kitchen has a peculiar layoff, you are able to request cabinets of the shape and size needed to fit your home.  If you face this challenge, you may struggle to find suitable cabinets for your kitchen without custom ordering.

Prebuilt kitchen cabinets, such as those stocked in most home improvement stores are a second choice for homeowners.  You will have a limited range of ‘standard’ sizes available, but a fair variety of finishes to choose from.  Being mass produced, and aimed for the mass market, these cabinets are a very affordable option.  This makes them a popular choice for many.

Ready to assemble kitchen cabinets have grown in popularity of late.  With these you purchase all the pieces required to build a cabinet in a box (or two) and assemble them yourself.  If you have ever purchased anything from Ikea you are sure to be familiar with the concept.  You can save a little money over prebuilt cabinets with this option, at the cost of a significant investment in time.  If you are a person with more time than money, this can be a good option to stretch your renovating dollar.
