They say a kitchen is as beautiful as the curtains hung in it. Well not exactly but you have to admit that a lovely kitchen curtain can make a kitchen look exceptionally lovely. You should regard the curtain as the finishing touch. You hang it after you're done painting the walls, resurfacing the cabinets and placing everything else in the right spot. So what kind of curtain would look marvelous in your kitchen? Could it be a stylish valance, or maybe a valance with a tier, perhaps a beautiful country curtain that will make your kitchen look and feel very homely?
This is a decision you have to make all on your own. But I will describe how they vary and what each style is particularly good for. Let's begin with the always simple yet classic valance curtain. This is as simple as it gets and you know what, on the right window it will look fabulous and more than enough. A valance is simple because it uses the least amount of fabric. It only covers the top of the window so if you want some privacy then move on and look at another design. You can however add a curtain below it with its own curtain rod. This combination is called a valance and tier, similar kitchen curtains are also called tab top. They are without a doubt the most simple curtains you can hang on your kitchen window but don't be fooled by their simplicity because they are stylish and trendy to this very day.
Country kitchen curtains are called that for good reason because they originated in the rural areas of the south. They remain just as popular today as they did when they were first designed. People who want a kitchen theme that is about home-life will appreciate this style. Admittedly they might look out of place if they are hung on trendy and modern kitchens in Chicago for example. But if you have a spacious kitchen one that witnesses plenty of home cooking then a country kitchen curtain will look just fine in your kitchen. Certainly there is no rule to what a person can or can not do and after all it is your kitchen. If you like one particular style then by all means hang the curtain you like on your kitchen window irregardless of having a modern or old world kitchen.
