Looking to do a little remodeling in your bathroom? We recently did. When our plumber installed the new toilet, he added a soft close toilet seat to it. My reaction was, what is that? He explained it’s a toilet seat in which the lid and seat will slowly close after you use it. Just give the seat a little flick of the wrist, the seat will close slowly. Amazing, no more slamming toilets, YAY!
I have to say, and this will seem weird, but a soft close seat does become a bit of a conversation piece. You will find yourself watching it when you first install it. You will even show company the new seat. I know, strange.
Now why switch to a soft close toilet seat? Well for a couple of reasons. The first one is that you have permanently eliminated the sound of a toilet seat crashing down on a toilet. Gone are the days of hearing a toilet seat smack against the toilet. Even better is that you won’t be awaken by that anymore in the middle of the night. Another good reason is that there is no longer an excuse not to lower the toilet seat anymore. Men and women have fought over this for centuries (ok maybe a hundred years, just seems longer). When someone is done doing his or her business there, flush and give the lid and seat a little push, and down it will slowly come.
My plumber installed a Kohler Quiet Close toilet seat. I have to say it was a very good choice. Kohler is a trusted name that has been around for years. The quality and comfort is there.
This toilet seat comes with Koehler’s Quick release feature. This will allow you to remove the seat quickly for cleaning. This will make your toilet area much cleaner. Just release, clean and snap back on. Simple.
For an inexpensive upgrade, look into Kohler soft close toilet seats.
