When deciding to go ahead on a bathroom remodeling project, one of the most important aspects is the initial design phase. It pays, nowadays, to be careful with our energy usage, not only to put some extra money in our pockets but also to help protect our limited natural resources. Low Flushing Toilets: The American Water Works Association estimates that a single person uses around twenty gallons of water per day with flushing. Low flush and dual flush toilets can help reduce this amount by a half.
Low Flow Shower Head: You can test your current shower head by running it for a full two minutes, allowing the water to collect into a five gallon bucket. If the water should overflow during this time than your head is not a low flow type. A normal shower will use around thirteen gallons of water which can be significantly reduced by using a low flow shower head.
Water Heating: Most of the time you do not need to be running your heater all day. Switching off at night will save a considerable amount of energy and money over the period of a year. To make things easier you could install and automatic timer.
Overall, just a few simple steps can help bring your bathroom up to date, help you save money and also contribute to helping the environment.
