A Wide Array of Lighting Options

Good lighting is the most important aspect of your home. You will need to carefully plan the lighting of your home because it will create an impact on the whole. What are the kinds of lighting that you will use for the inside and outside of your house? Outside lights need to be spread across a wider area. Outside lighting has to be more pleasant too.

The hall of your house is the most busiest area with everyone always trying to lay their hands on their shoes and coats. It is here that you welcome your guests. The lighting has to be practical and decorative to some extend. You can think of a hanging bowl, lantern, a posh chandelier or pendant.

If your ceiling is low then do not hang a pendant. It will look as if the roof is still lower. It would be better to use halogen spots instead. They seem to mimic daylight and when stopped, they do not call for attention much. If your house is a large one or is very old, the ceiling would be high enough to hold a majestic chandelier. To bring in a touch of glamor, a single chandelier is a good choice for the hallway. The lighting would be a little less in this case. To increase the lighting, you can fit corner spotlights to reflect the light onto the chandelier. For the staircase where you need good lighting, you can use the halogen lights.

The various kinds of lights that can be used for inside and outside lighting are: Incandescent - the usual light bulbs invented by Thomas Edison, Halogen lights - which are considered to be more efficient and the modern version of the incandescent light, Fluorescent lights - they are long lasting, come in variety of colors, sizes and shapes, Compact fluorescent lights - it is a variation of the fluorescent tube that is made smaller to fit in small spaces and require less energy to operate. And, finally when you shop for these lights be careful to avoid the low cost and low quality lamps because they will have no value for your money.
