Uses for Wooden Loft Ladders
Wooden loft ladders are considered the entry-level ladders. These ladders are the cheapest style of ladders that you can get and also the least stylish and normally the lowest quality. They can be purchased at many different retailers or specially made. A loft ladder can be made of a variety of different types of wood at different thicknesses. Typically not completely made of wood, there will be some metal parts and maybe some foam or rubber too.
Even though this type of ladder is the cheapest and lowest quality of the different types they can still be very useful. They will serve their purpose well in an area that is not the center of attention. Typically they will hold anywhere from 300 to 500 pounds. That should be enough to hold most people up as long as they are not carrying anything too heavy. Most things being carried up a set of loft stairs will not be too heavy though. Wooden stairs are both functional and economical.
Wooden loft ladders come in a few different models. There is the kind that unfolds down to be used, and there is the kind that expands like an extension ladder. The kind that folds down is typically cheaper because it requires less hardware. This kind can be a little more tedious to use though. It is much easier to slide down a ladder than it is to unfold it and this is why the extension ladder model is more expensive. If the ladder is not going to be used very much, the unfolding style will probably be fine as both types of ladder are equally strong.
Wooden ladders, although not as nice as metal or aluminium ladders, are much cheaper and if they are not going to be used very much they will probably suit their purpose just fine.
