Create a Nursery that Will Grow With Your Baby

At some point most expectant moms will feel overwhelmed with getting everything ready for the new baby. First time moms may not even know where to begin.

As most parents create a nursery especially for the new baby, planning this room is often top priority. While there was a time when there weren't many options, this is not true today. There are not only a great many color and nursery theme choices, but also an increasing number of manufacturers of baby bedding and furniture to choose from. Bedding and furniture choices for a baby are at least as numerous as they are for adult bedrooms. Whether your decorating tastes run to traditional, modern or something in between, you will find bedding and furniture selections to suit your taste.

One thing to keep in mind is that your baby will grow quickly into a toddler and then a preschooler. You can save yourself the expense and headache of redecorating in a couple of years by choosing decor that will grow with your child. Choosing pastels is great for a nursery, but generally look very babyish and may be colors you want to avoid if you plan to leave the room decor as is for several years. If you really have your heart set on using a blue crib set for your baby boy, why not choose a little deeper shade than baby blue. A medium blue or navy blue will age with your little boy much better than will baby blue.

When selecting the furniture for the nursery, you should also shop with an eye to using the furniture for as long as possible. Many cribs are sold as three in one or four in one options, meaning that they can be converted from a baby crib into a toddler bed and then depending on the style, into a daybed, full size or queen size bed. There are also great changing table options that can latter be used as a dresser.

With just a little planning and careful shopping you can save a little money and create a great nursery that can grow with your child.
