Bathrooms for Kids
Most of us are a little hesitant to decorate our bathroom just for the kids. But if your kids have their own bathroom then you can really go to town and have fun. If you are not sure where to start here are a few essential tips for achieving the perfect kids bathroom.
1. Start Neutral
If you are beginning the room from scratch always have a white bathtub, toilet and bathroom sink installed as well as neutral non-slip flooring so that you are free to decorate in any way you wish and can ring the changes more easily in future. Any interior designer will tell you that white is the only color to choose for a bathroom whether it is one for kids or one for adults.
2. Don't Go Mini
Kids grow up fast so although it may seem like a good idea to provide a mini child size toilet and a low sink don't be tempted to do that as you will be forced to remodel your bathroom in a very short space of time. Instead provide a child's toilet seat and little safety step for the toilet and sink.
3. Consider Bathroom Sets
There are a lot of brilliant kids bathroom sets around and they can be a quick way of putting together a theme for your room as well as a color scheme. You will find bathroom sets for all ages and tastes in local stores as well as online and you can have a lot of fun choosing with or for your child (Better to get their input if possible).
4. Soft Surfaces
Add comfort to the floor with bright bath rugs and have some matching soft towels available which will inject more color into the room. Never use carpet in a child's bathroom. It is sure to get ruined very quickly. Bath rugs can be washed easily. Carpet cannot and it soon becomes unhygienic.
